This Mustang was wrapped in vinyl graphics covering the entire paint area in a completely custom graphic designed by myself and installed by Monster Image in Huntington Beach, CA. The idea behind the wrap design was to incorporate styling from the ‘60s Gulf GT40 race car (solid orange stripe over the top) mixed in with modern design and some artistic flair. The design took me two months to dial in, then print on 3M Controltac vinyl with Matte Arlon 3220 lamination, to keep the design easier to look at in the sun, not to mention not having to polish it!

Story:  I grew up in Southern California and got to experience street racing on Mulholland Drive and Sunset Blvd, (Dead Man’s Curve ring a bell?) When I first purchased my 1992 LX Mustang 5.0, my plan was to make it an affordable version of a Saleen, but with more power and best bang for the buck. I went in to buy a white notchback for the lightest, fastest platform, but saw the Calypso Green and was sold. My very first mod was to install the Xenon ground effects, which impressed me at a previous SEMA show.  I heard that the Xenon show vehicle was blown off the freeway and totaled, but the ground effects were sanded down and reused on the next build. I then put on some HRE 5-spoke wheels and had to pay a visit to a great friend J.R. Granatelli at Paxton Superchargers to pump more power into my 302. After experiencing a supercharged Mustang, I was hooked and the mod list increased ten fold! GT-40 tubular intake, 1.72 roller rockers and an E-303 Ford cam was next and what a difference that made! Flowmaster 2-1/2” 2-chamber mufflers made it sound like a NASCAR and 3.55 gears made it launch like a jackrabbit. I ran low 12s at L.A. County Raceway where I tested every step of the way. My mileage on this 1992 Mustang LX 5.0 was about 25mpg when not crushing the through the floor boards. I then installed some BAER brakes (way overdue), so I could actually stop all this new found HP.

I attended every Friday Night Grudge race, where I met fellow Mustang enthusiasts in Palmdale and Lancaster, CA and that was the beginning of my never ending project Fox. I built my previous motor at California Automotive in Lancaster, CA and the owner, Mel, went on years founded the Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) racing series. 475,000 miles later, it has transitioned into this beast of a daily driver. I had previously wrapped the car in Chicane Sport Tuning graphics to support a great guy and mechanic, Joe Gosinski. Joe had a Fox Body that adorned Ferrari Modena wheels and so many hours of custom work done, that it inspired me to update and rebuild my Fox, so we could go to car shows, races and just a cruise down Pacific Coast Highway to enjoy the scenery of Huntington Beach, CA. Joe and I worked closely together over many years, and I designed many things for his shop. When someone took him from us on December 23, 2010, I was devastated. Joe was one of the best Ford mechanic/fabricators/all around great guy to know. He was on a few episodes of “Overhaulin” and had so many people that looked to him for fixing things they couldn’t figure out. It if wasn’t for him, I would’ve given up my Mustang and moved on to another project.
